the prompt this whole guide is built on

Here are my lecture slides for [class]. Make a one page study guide: the key terms with short definitions, the 5 ideas most likely to be on the exam, and 10 practice questions. Put all the answers at the very end so I can quiz myself first.

The exam is in two days and all you have is a slide deck your professor clicked through way too fast. Half the slides are one word and a picture. You don't even know where to start.

Start here. Hand the slides to an AI chat tool and ask for a one page study guide with practice questions at the end. You get the stuff to study and a way to test yourself, in about the time it takes to make coffee.

How to do it

  1. If the AI tool won't open the slide file, export the slides as a PDF. In PowerPoint or Google Slides, look under the File menu for a PDF option.
  2. Upload the PDF, paste the prompt above and swap in your class name.
  3. Read the key terms and big ideas once. If anything doesn't match your notes, trust your notes and fix it.
  4. Cover the answers and do the practice questions on paper. Circle every one you miss.
  5. Use the follow up below on the ones you missed, then quiz yourself again tomorrow.

For the ones you missed

I got these questions wrong: [paste them]. Explain each one in two or three sentences using only my slides, then give me one new question on the same idea. Hold the answers until I reply.

The night before

Using the same slides, make 8 harder questions that mix ideas from different lectures, the kind that make you connect things. Put the answers at the very end again.

that's it. go try it tonight.
